The Experience

The first 24 hours...: On arrival in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, our representative will settle you into a comfortable hotel where you can socialise and relax with your group for the evening. The next day is free for you to see some of the sights that Kathmandu has to offer. Our representative will take you to the British Embassy to get registered for your trek. You will then have a full briefing to prepare you for the trek.

Day 3 - 5: Day 3 - 5: The trek through the Langtang valley will give you a great introduction to life in Nepal. It is one of the best ways to educate yourself about the Nepalese people and their culture. The trek is not designed to be too physically challenging and should be suitable for most people. The trek lasts for 3 days and 2 nights and you will stay in very comfortable accommodation each night, waking up to the most amazing views!

Day 6 - 30: We have a variety of worthwhile projects that need volunteers to spend some time helping them out. These projects are based in the villages surrounding Kathmandu. You will be living either with a local family or in project accommodation/ guest house - your exact accommodation will depend on which project you will work with. The experience that you will have will give you a further insight into the life of people in Nepal and will be a great personal adventure. You could be teaching English at local schools, working in an orphanage, community work in a woman's shelter or a manual labourer working on a farm.

You will be volunteering Monday to Friday and have the weekends off for free time. Most volunteers choose to meet up in Kathmandu for a relaxing weekend.

Day 30 - 35: Having completed your voluntary project work, you will return to Kathmandu and be briefed on the 2 day rafting trip. The following morning you will be taken to the rafting point on the Trisuli River - one of the most popular rivers for white water rafting, suitable for beginners and experienced rafters alike. You will have some of the most spectacular views you are ever likely to see and have a thrilling experience of a lifetime. You will camp overnight by the river with camping staff who will provide your food.

After your 2 day rafting trip you will be taken to Chitwan National Park to experience a fantastic 2 day safari. The Chitwan National Park is an expanse of nearly 900 sq. km and boasts some of the finest varieties of flora and fauna in the world. You can expect to see Asian one-horned rhinoceros, Bengali tigers, monkeys and elephants all living in their natural habitats. You will have the opportunity to do an elephant trek including elephant bathing. You will stay overnight in a comfortable lodge where all food is provided.

At the end of the safari you will return to Kathmandu for your final night in Nepal before flying home.

Optional Tour of Tibet: If you wish to extend your stay in Nepal to 61/2 weeks we can offer you the chance of a lifetime to experience 10 days in Tibet - 'the roof of the world'. The average height of the region is 4,000 metres (16,500ft) above sea level. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the culture and learn about the Buddhist religion in one of the most remote parts of the world. Additional costs approximately £500.
