Historic city of Rome, Italy, surrounded by green parks, cultural landmarks, and vibrant neighbourhoods beyond the typical tourist trail.

Group/individual basis

You will travel as an individual but join a group of international volunteers at the project.

Pre-departure advice and assistance from our team, plus local support and guidance from experienced staff in Rome throughout your stay.

Accommodation

Shared hostel-style accommodation in central Rome, within walking distance of historic sites and public transport. Private rooms may be available on request. Meal vouchers are provided for breakfast and dinner.


Travel arrangements

Fly into Rome Fiumicino (FCO) or Ciampino (CIA) airport, or arrive by train. You’ll be collected on arrival and transferred to your accommodation. Return transfers at the end of your programme are not included.


Pre-departure briefing

You’ll receive detailed information about your project, responsibilities, arrival logistics, and life in Rome at least four weeks before departure.


Medical

Vaccinations are not typically required for Italy, but please consult your doctor or travel nurse about any personal health needs. Let us know about any pre-existing physical or mental health conditions prior to booking.


Insurance

You must take out comprehensive travel insurance covering medical care, personal accident, cancellation, emergency evacuation, and lost luggage. Organise this as soon as your place is confirmed.


Any risk factors

Rome is generally a safe destination with a low violent crime rate. Pickpocketing can occur in busy areas—keep belongings secure and follow safety advice from local coordinators and staff.


Downtime

You’ll have free afternoons, evenings, and weekends to explore Rome independently. Let the local team know your plans and expected return times for safety purposes.
