Accommodation
Shared, eco-friendly accommodation in central Athens, within easy reach of the animal sanctuary and public transport. Private rooms may be available on request.
Travel arrangements
Fly to Athens International Airport (ATH). You’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation. Volunteers arrange their own return transfer to the airport at the end of the program.
Pre-departure briefing
You will receive thorough information on your account covering project expectations, preparation, health and safety, responsible travel, and arrival arrangements at least 4 weeks before departure.
Medical
Vaccinations are not typically required, but please consult your doctor or travel nurse to discuss any personal health needs for Greece.

Insurance
You must take out a full travel insurance policy before departure, covering personal accident, medical, cancellation, emergency evacuation, and lost luggage. Organize your travel insurance as soon as your place is confirmed.
Any risk factors
Athens is generally a safe destination with a low violent crime rate. Petty theft (such as pickpocketing) can occur in busy areas, so take care of your belongings. Always follow safety guidance from project leaders and local staff.
Downtime
You’ll have free time in the afternoons, evenings, and on weekends to explore Athens and its surroundings independently. Inform staff of your plans and expected return times for your own safety.
