Our Romania ski season instructors have been out in the country for three weeks now and are getting ready for the busy Christmas season.
In their first week the participants were busy helping out in various childcare facilities in and around Brasov. This was a great opportunity to get some childcare experience (useful when taking out young kids on the mountain!) and to familiarise somewhat with the Romanian language.
In their second weeks, skis and snowboards were on and they were off skiing in Sinaia ski resort. In this week the snow school was able to analyse their abilities and create a programme of learning for them to get ready for instructing. After just 4 days of being out on the slopes, all participants were up to standard and ready to be employed at the ski school. One element is in the way of full time employment still, and that is the acquisition of the ISIA level 1 qualification, with training and exams taking place before Christmas. Good luck guys!
The ski slopes are expected to get busy over the Christmas and New Year period especially, with lots of skiers holidaying in January and February as well. After an initial base layer of snow earlier in the month, the slopes are crying out for a top up. Rumour has it that there should be snow at the weekend!
Here are some great snaps from the first week of being out on Romania’s slopes:
