PROJECT TYPE:

Coach football, netball, hockey, cricket, rugby, tennis, basketball or swimming in one of the world’s greatest sporting nations, bringing your love for sports into some of Africa’s poorest townships. Coach just one or a combination of these sports to improve not only the children’s sporting ability and teamwork, but your own as well! If that’s not enough for you, you can even get involved with childcare and teaching projects.

PROJECT TYPE:

Japan isn’t just about sushi, samurai, and skyscrapers — it’s also one of the top powder skiing destinations in the world. With more ski resorts than even Austria, every mountain region offers something distinct. While Niseko is the best-known area, attracting a global crowd with its variety of resorts, the entire country is a goldmine for snow enthusiasts. Thanks to its natural geography, you’re likely to find untouched powder wherever you go.

Many Japanese ski resorts receive up to 16 metres of snowfall each season. This is due to a unique weather pattern: icy winds from Siberia move across the Sea of Japan, collecting moisture that turns into dense clouds and results in frequent, fluffy snowfalls. The outcome? Perfect powder — light, dry, and ideal for both skiing and snowboarding.

Volunteers play a key role in local youth programs across Croatia, supporting after-school centres and nonprofit organizations that work with children and teens facing social and educational barriers. These spaces offer support, structure, and creativity to help young people grow with confidence and curiosity.

You’ll assist with homework, lead engaging activities, share your culture, and support English learning in an informal, dynamic setting. Your presence helps foster inclusion and encourages youth to dream bigger, stay motivated, and connect to new ideas and experiences.

This program offers a rewarding opportunity to be a positive influence in young lives while gaining valuable cross-cultural and educational experience in a vibrant, evolving Croatian community.

Sports Coaching and Training Opportunities Overseas

Sports abroad is the ultimate way to mix travel, adventure, and doing something meaningful. Whether you want to coach sports in South Africa, learn to surf in Portugal, or train to become a ski or snowboard instructor in Canada or Japan, Oyster has exciting opportunities to match your goals and passions.

In South Africa, you can make a real impact by coaching local children in sports like football, swimming, cricket, netball, tennis, boxing, and more — helping young people build confidence, develop life skills, and discover new opportunities through sport. If you’ve got a favourite sport, let us know and we’ll help find the right placement for you.

Looking to gain qualifications while you travel? You can also complete professional training courses, from surf instruction in Portugal to internationally recognised ski and snowboard certifications in Canada and Japan — with the chance to earn money as a paid instructor once you qualify.

Along the way, you’ll meet people from all over the world, create unforgettable memories, and seriously boost your CV for future jobs or university applications. It’s not just a trip — it’s an experience that sets you apart.
