We’re Expanding: Introducing Surf, Kitesurf & Adventure Trips at Oyster Worldwide
Since 2006, Oyster Worldwide has helped thousands of people travel with purpose – working abroad, tours, volunteering programmes in over 30 countries, and living alongside communities from Canada to New Zealand. If you’ve paddled out with us on our Surf Camp & Coastal Conservation programme in Lisbon, or spent time volunteering with sharks in South Africa, you already know we take the ocean seriously.
Now we’re building on that experience to launch something new: standalone surf, kitesurf, and adventure travel trips – no volunteering commitment required, just great waves, real coaching, and the kind of trip planning we’ve spent almost two decades refining.
Why We’re Doing This
Our Lisbon programmes taught us something simple: a huge number of the people joining us for the surf side of our conservation trips weren’t there primarily for the volunteering – they came for the surf, the coaching, and the community, and the conservation work became a meaningful bonus. We kept hearing the same thing: “I’d love to do this again, but I don’t have 1–12 weeks to volunteer this time — do you offer just the trip?”
So now we do.
What’s Launching
Surf Retreats & Surf Camps
Small-group, warm-water surf coaching for all levels, from complete beginners to those looking to progress. Built the same way we’ve always built our trips — properly organized, well-supported, and genuinely social.
Kitesurf Trips
For those chasing wind as much as waves, we’re introducing kitesurf-focused trips in destinations known for consistent, reliable conditions.
Adventure Travel
Beyond the water: multi-activity trips combining surf or kitesurf with the kind of cultural exploration, local guiding, and off-the-beaten-path experiences Oyster has always been known for.
These sit alongside – not instead of – our existing volunteer and work abroad programmes. If you want to combine impact with adventure, that option isn’t going anywhere. If you just want the adventure, now you can book that directly.

What doesn’t change is how we operate: proper pre-departure support, an in-country team who actually know the destinations, and small groups over mass-market crowds. We’re not pivoting away from what got us here — we’re widening the door.
