Paid Work Abroad, Paid Gap Years, Paid Work Experience,Short Term Gap Year Projects, Volunteer Abroad for 2 Weeks plus, Oyster Worldwide

Not everyone has the time to do a long-term project, so we have designed a series of projects from just 2 weeks for our animal welfare placements to 4 weeks for childcare and teaching, with loads of great options and ideas for all.

Our projects

Australia Conservation

Head out to off the beaten track areas in Australia to do valuable conservation work. Volunteer for as little as 4 weeks in some truly breathtaking scenery.

Borneo - Orangutan conservation

Spend 6 weeks of your summer volunteering with orang-utans in Borneo. This is a great opportunity for those on holiday from university who are studying biology, zoology and animal management.

Canada Jasper Summer hospitality work

Wanting to fill a little more than just the 6 week summer holiday? Spend the whole summer (from late May - late October) working for the popular season in the Canadian Rockies town of Jasper. Work hard, earn money and enjoy all the all the adventure activities you could want!

Canada Work and Learn French in Tremblant

Guaranteed paid work in Tremblant for the 10 week summer season. Improve your French whilst working, and playing, hard. Tremblant is a popular summer resort and is perfect for people keen on the outdoors, hiking, rafting and climbing.

Costa Rica Turtle Conservation

A beach holiday with a difference! Spend your 2 week holiday helping to protect nesting turtles and their eggs along the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. The nesting season is between July and December, and volunteers are needed to ensure that the baby turtles make it safely to the sea.

Nepal Teach and Trek

Oyster has been sending volunteers to Nepal since 2000 and we are proud to have a great rep and great projects that make good use of volunteers for shorter periods of time. We have designed a great 5 week summer program (beginning early July) that takes in a 3 day Himalaya trek, white water rafting and a Chitwan safari as well as spending 4 weeks living in a local community teaching.

Romania Bears

Help rehabilitate brown bears at Eastern Europe’s largest bear sanctuary, home to over 50 bears, many of which will have been kept in horrific conditions before being rescued. Spend two weeks or more as a volunteer helping them to adjust to freedom in beautiful mountainous woodland near Brasov, in the heart of the stunning area of Transylvania.

Romania Childcare

This is a perfect opportunity for people that work in childcare or healthcare to do something different with their holiday time. Enhance your CV, provide friendship and care to children in orphanages, a hospice and a hospital. Prepare to be hugged a lot! For people that can demonstrate good experience, this project can be for a minimum of 2 weeks.

South Africa Big 5

Spend 2 weeks or more volunteering at a large game reserve in South Africa, home to the African Big 5. No one day is the same as you help out in a variety of animal welfare and conservation initiatives.

South Africa Elephant Sanctuary

Located close to the Garden Route, this project is perfect for 2 weeks as part of a longer tour of South Africa. Volunteer your time at an elephant sanctuary where you will get a real insight into the lives of these magnificent animals, helping with feeding, animal care and scientific research.

South Africa Lions Rock

Volunteer at the largest big cat Sanctuary in South Africa. Prepare food, run tours and monitor lions and other big cats as they play and interact with each other. LIONSROCK is a new home for big cats that have been abused, kept in cramped conditions or confiscated from hunters.

South Africa Monkeys

Nurture and protect orphaned and abused monkeys and baboons in this haven. Watch as they learn the ways of the wild and begin interacting with each other once again during their rehabilitation before being released.

South Africa Shark Conservation

A very different diving holiday. Help to monitor and observe sharks by taking photos and notes whilst cage diving. This is vital work if we are to reverse the trend of declining shark numbers.

South Africa Sports Coaching

Spend 5 weeks coaching sports or teaching English to kids in South Africa. Coach football, netball, hockey, rugby, cricket or tennis to children in some of Port Elizabeth's poorest townships.

Thailand Elephant Park

Make a life-changing difference to the future of former working elephants in this inspiring park in the Thai jungles. Get up close and personal with the elephants and their mahouts, helping with feeding and bathing the elephants.

Thailand Marine Conservation

Help preserve coral reefs to promote fish survival and experience the thrill of diving in the Gulf of Thailand.

Thailand Turtle Project

Help an organisation to protect and encourage the survival of turtles, including the magnificent leatherbacks, in one of the most stunning island locations off the coast of Thailand.

Thailand Wildlife Project

Involve yourself in a sanctuary that rescues wild animals that are maltreated and no one else cares for. Help look after their needs and where possible assist with an immensely rewarding programme of rehabilitation back into the wild.
